Statewide FFBCF Meeting
Saturday November 2, 2013
This meting will be held in conjunction with the Celebration of Life Reunion Like we did last year. Chapters will be allowed to come and participate. I do encourage it as I have always enjoyed it. Shortly after lunch we will move to our meeting. Please RSVP with me before October 24 so that we can get a head count from each of the 22 chapters. Again, if we have not seen you in a while we would like to see you.
Here is a message from Dr. Leslie Smith ref the Silent
Auction Please read and help if you or your chapter can:
Hi Everyone, I really need to gear up for the silent auction for the burn center. Each year, in conjunction with the state wide Celebration of Life Burn Survivor Reunion, we have a silent auction for attendees. This is how our burn survivors Christmas shop and the money we raise goes into the aftercare program. I am way behind where I was last year. Can you all look within your hearts or your organizations and see if you can gather donations for this year's silent auction? Anything that would make a nice Christmas present for our burn survivors to purchase would be awesome. Last year electronics, tools and toys were the biggest sellers. Gift baskets, kitchen items, linens, fire safety items, gift cards, wine, cameras, kindles, flashlights, costume jewelry, coffee mugs, anything Starbucks, etc all make great items for the auction. Even company logo items sell well; do you have travel mugs with your company name on them or some other nice promotional item? Your donations are tax deductible.
I really appreciate the help this year! Our burn survivors look forward to the Celebration of Life event and the chance to "buy" Christmas items at a great price in our silent auction. Last year we raised $5,500 for the aftercare program with this event and most items "sold" for 44% of retail value. It is a win-win situation for both the survivors and the burn center.
Leslie Smith, M.D.
