Life Safety Educators Conference in Asheville N.C.
During the Burn Center Luncheon on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 Ernest
Grant and Kay Teague of the NC Jaycee Burn Center at UNC Health Care in
Chapel Hill, NC presented award plaques to organizations and fire
departments across North Carolina for their efforts of support to the
Burn Center. The Sanford - Lee County Group received a plaque during
that time. Following by great surprise to members of the Sanford -Lee
County group "Lee County Firefighters' Burned Children Fund" received
the Traveling Fire Bucket Award. This award is given to the department
or group giving the largest contribution and support per capita.
However, this award was a great surprise to the group because this is
the 4th time receiving this award. Back in 2007 the Lee County
Firefighters Burned Children Fund received the award for their 3rd time
straight and that bucket was placed on display at Sanford's Central Fire
Station on Hawkins Ave. This Bucket will remain on display at Sanford #3
Fire Station until next year when it will have to be turned in for the
next award recipient. If and when it is won again we will bring it back
home and if the next 2 times we will make its home here for good.
The Lee County Firefighters Burned Children Fund is firefighters
throughout the area who strongly believe in the support for burn
survivors and burn prevention both locally and at the Burn Center.
Support is directed towards the patients or events such as Camp
Celebrate, Celebration of Life and other after care programs.
We thank everyone for their continued support, donations and keep those
aluminum drink cans coming in at you local fire department so that we
can continue our efforts both locally and at the Burn Center.

Fundraising
The Cabarrus County Chapter is going to do a
cookbook. It will be dedicated to all the firemen across the state and
the staff at the N.C. Jaycee Burn Center. We would like to have recipes
from all the chapters and/or fire departments that would like to
participate. Go to the Cabarrus County
Chapter page to send your recipes.
The books will sell for $10.00 each and will be available right
before Christmas. Most of the money will go to the Burn Center. Some of
it will be used to refurbish a can trailer and do some fire prevention
in Cabarrus County.
Food Lion MVP cardholders can go on-line and register their cards (www.foodlion.com -
click on fundraisers and follow instructions). Food Lion will donate a
percentage of each cardholder’s purchases to the FFBCF each quarter.
You must renew your card for 2010!
